Knocking before there's a door...huh interesting concept.

Hey you guys, it's Mimi! Today I am super psyched to be writing a blog I think will be impactful!

Right now, I’m reading the Bible cover to cover and in the Old testament there is a big pattern of promises. This gives way to the title of this post today. Knocking before there's a door or alternatively, Having the boldness to dream and wait. This tag line might not make sense but I promise it does. In a snapshot it means having the audacity to expect certain things (opportunities, dreams etc…) and trust even before there is a door to walk past or a door to walk through. Nothing in life means you cannot be expectant and praise God with faith. This can be a steep mountain to get the will to climb. As people of the World, we do not live by faith but by sight, so when asked to live by FAITH not by sight (Corinthians 5:7) the room goes silent.

Correct me if I'm wrong but when there's a door in front of you, you want to have a motive for knocking. You want to have a purpose for action, right? You don't want to casually be waiting outside a door, that's a tad weird...In a matter of words, you want to be expecting “something to come from the door or rather from behind the door [...]” You want an outcome. Here's an example: When you order pizza, both you, and the delivery person are expecting something to happen. You are expecting the pizza, while, on the other hand, the delivery person is expecting you to open the door and pay for the pizza. Each side knows what their waiting for. They’re not just there to be there. Well unless there’s a robber or solicitor and you just really like the sight of your door but that's not what I'm getting at.

What I'm getting at is this: Doors can seem like barriers, but if you are EXPECTANT at the door, maybe even FOR the door, the waiting process can be exciting and joyous. Shouldn't you know what the gift is before you write a thank you note? Logically, in most cases yes, but I don't think that is the case in Gods kingdom. I think you can thank before you get and praise before you receive. Because God is good and not bad, and everything God has made is good, so you can thank before you get with the confidence of his perfect plan. It's making a statement. It's truly trusting the process and making the choice to trust the process maker.

It takes deserts (dry seasons) to balance things out. Quite literally. You see, the Earth is 33% desert and yet we're still spinning. Desserts seem bad because they are dry and barren however without this 33% the Earth wouldn’t be perfect. What I mean is that You're going to have seasons that are like deserts. Seasons that make little to no sense. However they are needed to make your World spin. Just because it’s a dry season it doesn't mean you can't purchase an umbrella and wait for the refreshing rain. You can knock before there's a door, and you can knock and expect for the door to open. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being proactive and knocking. Even if there isn't a door (sounds crazy, I know.) EXPECT the promise. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and THANK him for all he has done. Then you will experience Gods’ peace."

And when God gives you a promise-full door, prepare to be welcomed in. "When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy he will clear away many nations ahead of you." Deuteronomy 7:1

I think this stands for situations today. When God is bringing you into a fulfilled land he will make a way. The door will open. When doors do open, and you arrive at your promise land, remember who got you there. Nothing lacks in Gods land, and he is the One who makes you successful. (Deuteronomy 8:9+18) Don't be afraid to knock and don't be afraid to knock before there's a door. Trust in God and wait on him. If something is in his will, it will happen!

Until next time...

Mimi K
