BOUNDARIES. . Boundaries are set to protect. .

When I think of boundaries, what comes to my mind is capture the flag. One of my favorite games I used to play. Each team has a side, and then there’s no mans land. When you cross the boundary of your side you’re in right range to get tagged. You’re no longer in your safe territory. .

Boundaries have been something I’ve sort of been pondering in my life. I realize I NEED them and I need to acknowledge them or else pretty soon I’m going to be running in the WRONG race. Here are some boundaries I’m realizing I need to make in my life.

- What boundaries should be set when interacting with people. (how much of my heart is too much to let someone see?)

- What boundary line should be set using social media. (Do I use social media in a God honoring way or do I let social media run me away from God?)

- What boundary should be placed with trying to help someone. (At what point do I stand in and try to help, or step back and cheer on the process)

All valid boundary lines to ponder. .

A verse that has been wrecking me recently is this. James 4:4, which says, “Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the World, you make yourself an enemy of God.”

It’s easy to get closer and closer to the line and see just how far you can go. Especially when the world is cheering you on. Who's voice are you listening to? The one that says "Go push that line you can do it!" ORRR the still small voice that simply says "stay." This makes me think of ...“Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” - James 4:8

Applying that first verse to each of my current wandering struggles makes me realize that I’m wanting to be like the World to “fit in”.

"Casually I'm like well even if I cross the line i'm still in no mans land so i'm safe" That’s where the problem arises. That's not the point. You should know what ground you stand on, holy ground. .

Back to capture the flag, the thing with boundary lines is this, if there were none there would be no game. Much like if there were not lines set in areas of our lives, there would be chaos. .

Boundaries are good. Everyone should have them. And of course, respect them. All in all limits are limits and lines are lines. .

I want to challenge you today to think about your life. Think about how you’re going about things and why you’re going about them. Do you need to set boundaries to keep life in order? Are you acknowledging the already set boundaries? Remember, just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. .

. I want to end with this.

Are you a friend of the world? If you answer that yes, pray and think of some boundaries that can keep you on holy ground and away from dangerous "no mans" land.

Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. (James 4:8) and “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight.” - Proverbs 3:6

. My thoughts from last rainy Friday.

Until next time...
